Masala Making Training
While considering the increasing demand for Village Industries training and to create sustainable livelihood opportunities, the Vidyalaya started Masala Making training in 1997 as a part of its skill development programs. The objective of the training is to promote self-employment among rural youth, women, and marginalized sections of society by providing practical skills in spice processing and small-scale entrepreneurship.
This training empowers participants with hands-on experience in the traditional art and modern techniques of spice processing. It covers the complete production cycle – from selection, cleaning, drying, roasting, grinding, and blending of spices to hygienic packaging and basic branding. Emphasis is placed on maintaining quality standards and food safety, ensuring that trainees are equipped to meet market demands.
Beyond technical skills, the program also nurtures an entrepreneurial mindset. Trainees receive guidance in marketing strategies, costing, labeling, and linking with local markets and Self-Help Groups (SHGs). By promoting self-employment and micro-enterprise development, the program helps create income-generating opportunities and strengthens rural economies.
Rooted in the Gandhian philosophy of village self-sufficiency (Gram Swaraj), the Masala Making Training Program is more than just a vocational course—it is a movement toward dignity, independence, and community-based development.
